Interventional Pain and Spine Program at Spaulding Rehabilitation Outpatient Center Sandwich

Interventional pain management may help you manage your pain in conjunction with other treatment modalities. In addition to conservative treatment such as prescription medications, an interventional pain management approach uses injections to help diagnose and treat the source of pain. The goal is to reduce pain so that you may resume normal activities.

When indicated, procedures may be done under fluoroscopic (X-ray) guidance.

Procedures may include:

  • Epidural steroid injections (ESI)
  • Facet joint block
  • Sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve block
  • Trigger point injection (TPI)
  • Radiofrequency ablation

    Daniel Sheehan, MD

    Physician

Dr. Sheehan specializes in the management of spine problems, chronic pain, and fatigue. In addition to neck and back pain, Dr. Sheehan also treats joint pain, diseases of aging, relative energy deficiency, and running injuries. From elite performance to debilitating arthritis, Dr. Sheehan has cured a wide range of patients. Procedure techniques that Dr. Sheehan uses include Spinal injections with fluoroscopic guidance and Regenerative medicines such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell procedures. To reset the normal healing cycle, Dr. Sheehan manages neuroinflammation, hormones, neurotransmitters, and cell signaling proteins. For example, testosterone replacement, treatment of underlying infections, and immune system modulators can rebalance energy demands, control excessive inflammation, and remove toxic senescent cells. These are only some of his strategies to restore optimal function.
