BOSTON, MA - In addition to marking the milestone of graduating its 20th residency and fellow Class in 2015, the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital garnered more national recognition by achieving a #3 residency ranking in the 2015/16 Doximity Residency Navigator. The program was also ranked as the #1 residency program in research output for physical medicine and rehabilitation.

“The dynamic growth of our department in a relatively short time to be on par with the best in the country is a true testament to the quality of our faculty, students and alumni,” said Dr. Ross Zafonte, the Chair of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Senior Vice President of Research, Education and Medical Affairs for Spaulding. “We are honored by this recognition and look to enhance the department’s standing even more with novel research and excellence in care.”

“These recognitions do not happen without the dedication of every member of our department doing their part each day to advance the quality of life for the communities we serve,” said Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Residency and Fellowship Program Director, Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Medical Director for the Spaulding Spinal Cord Injury Program. “We take an enormous amount of pride in the vibrant culture of research for our program and continue to look to bring the best talent in our students and faculty to contribute even more.”

Doximity’s residency reputation listings reflect more than 95,000 peer nominations from board certified physicians. The honor indicates which residency programs physicians hold in the highest regard for quality of clinical training. Medical students can access Doximity Residency Navigator to search for and discover programs best-suited to their personal interests and career goals.
