Spaulding's Dr. Donna Nimec Honored by United Cerebral Palsy of Metroboston at the First "Women Creating Life Without Limits" Celebration

(Boston, MA)- Dr. Donna Nimec, Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and an Instructor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School was recently recognized by United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston at the first “Women Creating Life Without Limits” Celebration. Dr. Nimec was honored for her distinguished career of caring for thousands of children impacted by cerebral palsy (CP) and advancing the research and treatments for those with CP.

Dr. Nimec leads one of the largest inpatient pediatric rehabilitative units in the Northeast as well as treats children and young adults at a number of specialized clinics in the Boston area. In addition to her clinical work, she also maintains a robust research portfolio with a number of major publications on CP. Dr. Nimec serves as co-principal investigator on one of the longest running longitudinal research studies focused on improving gait training for children and young adults with CP using robotic-assisted devices based at Spaulding’s Motion Analysis Lab.

“We are so fortunate to have someone who is held in such high regard both nationally and internationally lead our pediatric rehabilitation medicine program. Dr. Nimec’s tireless commitment to improving the lives of everyone associated with the CP community is something in which our department takes an enormous amount of pride. I could not think of a more appropriate person to recognize with this honor,” said Dr. Ross Zafonte, Chair of the Department of PM&R at Harvard Medical School and Senior Vice President of Research, Education and Medical Affairs at Spaulding Rehabilitation.

Also joining Dr. Nimec as an honoree at the event was Rupal Patel, PhD, the founder and President of VocaliD. The event took place at the Commander’s Mansion in Watertown with well over one hundred guests and a silent auction was held to benefit UCP of MetroBoston.
