Preparing Children for School During the COVID Pandemic

School is an exciting time, it can also be a difficult time for many children and families, especially when we are navigating our school situation during the COVID-19 pandemic. School might look a little different this year and change can be scary. Change in routine when going back to school can cause anxiety and confusion for many children. COVID-19 has changed our world and environments in many ways and going back to school is just one of them.

Social stories (written stories with pictures relating to a specific event) are a great way to prepare children for what to expect during different activities. Reading a social story about what to expect when going back to school during the COVID-19 pandemic would be helpful in preparing a child for the events to come.
