About
Matthew Kelly, MD is Board-Certified in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Sports Medicine.
Originally from Upstate New York, he graduated from Boston College Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and went on to receive his Medical Degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He stayed in Syracuse for his Internal Medicine internship before completing a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at Georgetown University/MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He then completed a fellowship in PM&R Sports Medicine at Georgetown/MedStar NRH in conjunction with the National Capital Sports Medicine Consortium (NCSMC).
He joins the Spaulding Rehabilitation with board certification in both PM&R and Sports Medicine as an Instructor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. Growing up as a multi-sport athlete, Dr. Kelly has a wide breath of clinical interests including overuse and tendon injury, joint pain, and interventional ultrasound and fluoroscopic (Xray) guided procedures. Believing in a multidisciplinary approach to musculoskeletal injury, Dr. Kelly works closely with patients, athletic trainers, physical therapists, coaches, and other specialty physicians to help get his patients back to the sports and activities they love. Outside the clinic and away from the sidelines, Dr. Kelly can be found jogging along the Charles with his rescue dog, working on his golf swing or catching a game at Fenway or The Garden.
He sees patients on the North Shore with clinics in Peabody & Beverly, MA.
