(BOSTON, MA) - Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital has again been recognized as one the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country, achieving a rank of #5 in the 2016 US News and World Report “America’s Best Hospitals” issue, climbing one spot from the previous two years.  Spaulding continues to be the only rehabilitation hospital in New England ranked each year since 1995.

“Our top five ranking once again serves to validate the extraordinary work our staff does every day to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families,” said David E. Storto, President, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. “Our cutting edge research, state of the art facility and vibrant community programs all contribute to make Spaulding one of the preeminent centers of healing in the world.”

Spaulding continues to enhance its standing as a leader in care, research, and education with new efforts such as hosting the first ever rehab medicine hack, the “Spaulding Hackathon”. Spaulding also has been recognized for fostering the top residency program in the country for research output by Doximity Residency Navigator and the top rehabilitation hospital in the country for research by the Nature Index.

“This acknowledgement by our peers is incredibly rewarding as it reaffirms our standing as a major center of dynamic innovation for our field,” Dr. Ross Zafonte, Senior Vice President of Research, Education and Medical Affairs for Spaulding and the Chair of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Spaulding has maintained its standard of excellence in healthcare along with fellow Partners HealthCare hospitals 2016 “Honor Roll” members Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s, and highly ranked McLean Hospital, all perennial members on the “Best Hospitals” list.
