Live Long Walk Strong
Live Long Walk Strong (LLWS) is a clinical program designed to prevent falls and fall-related injuries. After referral from a primary care physician, patients are evaluated by a PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) physician to determine any physical impairments or functional problems that would put them at risk. Patients can then be referred for physical and occupational therapy to address their physical, cognitive and behavioral needs. Patients also receive education and instruction on community exercise/activity programs.

The Live Long Walk Strong program at Spaulding Outpatient Centers provides a coordinated interdisciplinary approach to rehabilitation that emphasizes functional improvement. After a comprehensive evaluation by our team of specialists, an individual treatment plan is formulated based on your specific needs and mutually agreed upon goals. Your treatment plan will help you maximize your balance, confidence and functional ability. We will work together to help ensure you receive the best care possible while improving your mobility and overall quality of life.

The Live Long Walk Strong program is one of many programs offered through the Spaulding Center for Lifelong Health and Fitness. It is one of the only centers in the nation dedicated to research and clinical care to prevent disability in older adults. Our experienced Rehabilitation specialists provide expert care that is designed around the most current and valid medical evidence.
Program Director(s)
The LLWS Program is led by Dr. Jonathan Bean, Director of the Spaulding Center for Lifelong Health and Fitness, Director of Spaulding Outpatient Center Cambridge and Director of Research and Education for the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. In addition, Dr. Bean is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and Director of Research and Education for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Harvard Medical School.
