GYROTONIC Exercise Training
Spaulding Outpatient Center Brighton offers the innovative GYROTONIC Exercise Training Program. Our newly expanded clinic at 20 Guest Street is home of the GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower and Jump and Stretch Board. These two pieces of equipment are part of the GYROTONIC Expansion System, which is now found in rehabilitation centers, private physical therapy clinics, dance studios and fitness centers all over the world. Originating in the world of dance, this movement method improves strength, flexibility endurance, co-ordination and gracefulness for activities of daily living, skilled movements and competitive sports.
Approach to Care
The GYROTONIC Expansion System retrains the body-mind connection (neuromuscular control), and coordinated movement of the spine/trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle to enable the body to learn more efficient movement patterns for activities of daily life and sports performance. A sophisticated system of pulleys, weights and choreography assists the individual to strengthen these re-learned movement patterns through eccentric and concentric loading.
As part of a comprehensive treatment plan, GYROTONIC exercise enables patients to achieve their therapeutic goals in rehabilitation.
Expertise
Our physical therapists are specially certified as GYROTONIC trainers and incorporate elements of GYROTONIC exercise within patient’s treatment programs to improve range of motion of the spine and peripheral joints. The exercise choreography on the GYROTONIC Pulley Tower emphasizes spiral motion to restore full range of combined motions of the spine and proximal joints. Through repetitive mindful movements, the body is gently able to regain range and freedom of movement often long since lost to the demands of our modern sedentary lifestyle.
