Spaulding's Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities

Inpatient rehabilitation is for patients who require intensive, interdisciplinary rehabilitation services. Such inpatient programs are designed to improve function and promote each patient's highest degree of independence.

How This Type of Care Fits Into Rehabilitation

At an inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF), clinical teams coordinate medical treatment, specialized services, rehabilitation treatments, and patient-assistance services, all while providing the emotional support and encouragement that patient need to make great strides in recovery. Patients must be able to participate in a minimum of three hours of therapy per day.

Inpatient rehabilitation care is also known as hospital-level, or acute, rehabilitation care. This sophisticated level of care is not available in other settings, such as nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living centers or extended care centers.

At Spaulding, the expertise and resources at our IRFs enable our staff to provide a high level of coordinated rehabilitation and medical care.

Admission to an IRF

Most people are admitted to an IRF from an acute-care hospital. If you wish to be considered for admission to a Spaulding-affiliated IRF, notify the discharge planner from the acute-care hospital, who will contact us.
