Visitor Information for Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center Brighton
Updated December 2, 2021
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health have expanded visitation in skilled nursing facilities to allow in-room visits for residents.
All visitors must adhere to the core principles of infection prevention and control which include:
Core Principles of COVID-19 Infection Prevention
- Visitors will be screened for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
- Visitors who have a positive viral test for COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19, or currently meet the criteria for quarantine (exposed to someone with COVID-19), should not enter the facility.
- Frequent Hand hygiene (use of alcohol-based hand rub is preferred).
- Face covering or mask (covering mouth and nose) and physical distancing at least six feet between people, in accordance with CDC guidance.
While not recommended, residents who are in isolation or quarantine can still receive visitors. In these cases, visits should occur in the resident’s room and the resident must wear a well-fitting facemask (if tolerated).
Before visiting residents who are in isolation or quarantine, visitors should be made aware of the potential risk of visiting and precautions necessary in order to visit the resident.
Visitors should adhere to the core principles of infection prevention. Visitors who are unable to adhere to the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention should not be permitted to visit or should be asked to leave.
It is strongly advised that visitors to COVID-19 positive or quarantined residents should be fully vaccinated and maintain physical distance. Visitors must wear a facility issued mask and the facility should monitor visitor compliance with hand hygiene.
Protocol
Each resident in a semi-private room may have one in-room visitor at a time to comply with the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention.
A resident may have more than one visitor at a time, but the visit must be conducted in the second-floor main dining room where space allows for appropriate social distancing.
Visitors may only proceed directly to the resident’s room or dedicated visitation space and may not go to common areas.
Large gatherings and groups cannot be accommodated per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Visitor restrictions are subject to change based on guidelines set forth by Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Thank you for your compliance. Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Brighton staff are working to ensure the safety of patients through many methods. Get more information on Spaulding’s COVID-19 response and updates.
