Judi Cullinane, PhD, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, LSSBH, CCRN-K

Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Dr. Judi Cullinane serves as the Chief Nursing Officer for Spaulding Rehabilitation, a world leader in advanced rehabilitation treatment and research that serves the greater Boston region and beyond. Spaulding Rehabilitation consists of three hospitals, a skilled nursing facility and twenty-six outpatient centers across eastern Massachusetts. She has oversight of all nursing and patient care supports, driving excellence in care that is patient-family centered and holistic through advocacy, clinical practice, research, and academics. 

Dr. Cullinane was the former Associate Chief Nursing Officer of the Robin & David Jaye Center for Nursing Excellence at Tufts Medical Center. She serves as an adjunct Associate Professor for Simmons University and previously served as an adjunct Associate Professor at Tufts University, School of Graduate Programs. She has held leadership positions as a Vice -Chair of IRB, professional development director, nurse manager and clinical nurse within pediatric and neonatal critical care. She has received several distinct awards throughout her career inclusive of the Louis Lasagna Research Award, the J. David Naparstek Community Award, the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPHA) Excellence in Community Award, the Theresa LaPlant Award for Research and Nursing Education (Sigma Theta Tau, Theta at Large), the New England Regional Black Nurses Association, Nursing Excellence Award, and the Evelyn Berryman Award for Creativity.

Judi obtained her doctorate degree from Simmons University and her master's and baccalaureate degrees from Graceland University. She is certified as an Advanced Nurse Executive and as a certified Critical Care Nurse through the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is also certified in Lean Six Sigma as a Black Belt in Healthcare, engaging nursing and interprofessional healthcare clinicians within strategy and change management to meet the needs of patients, families, employees, and the organization. Judi also serves on the ANCC Commission on Accreditation, Nursing Continuous Professional Development. She has served on other boards and committees including serving as an award judge for Johnson & Johnson Nurse Fellowship, the National Nurse Advisory Board of Becton Dickinson, the Organization of Nurse Leaders (MA, RI, NH, VT, CT), the Boston MA, National Association of Hispanic Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau, Theta at Large (007). She has conducted research in virtual simulation, in the effects of Bisphenol A exposure in neonates, root cause analysis curriculum implementation in an undergraduate nursing program and pain management in neonates. She has publications within the Academies Pediatrics, PLOS One, Journal of Maternal-Child Nursing, The Journal of Pediatrics and The Journal of Burn Care and Research.
