In January 2019, Dr. Tan was invited to Japan by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science under JSPS invitational fellowship.
In October 2018, the Cerebrovascular Research Laboratory was awarded a Program Development Grant from the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to study the role of aerobic exercise training to mitigate age-related and post-stroke declines in cognitive function.
In March 2018, the Cerebrovascular Research Laboratory was awarded an NIH small research grant to study brain vascular function to assess optimal timing and intensity of aerobic exercise after a concussion
Dr. Tan was named “Fellow of the American Heart Association” in November 2016.
