Spaulding's Approach for Women's Health
We tailor our approach specifically to your needs and circumstances. Our team of clinicians will review your medical history and the results of diagnostic, neurologic and gynecologic testing and evaluate you to develop an individual treatment plan.
Our Women’s Health Program is designed to treat:
Urinary Incontinence
Incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine significant enough to cause a problem in daily activities. Our noninvasive therapeutic treatments include exercise, biofeedback and lifestyle strategies to help you manage urinary incontinence.
Osteoporosis and Perimenopausal Symptoms
Specially-designed exercises and activity training will help you to improve your strength, balance and overall function in a safe manner. You will also learn about nutrition and lifestyle changes. This will help prevent and treat osteoporosis and decrease perimenopausal symptoms.
Pregnancy and Postpartum-Related Pain Rehabilitation
Many women experience pain as a result of pregnancy, labor and delivery. Our clinicians can help reduce pain and improve function both during pregnancy and in the post-partum period through exercise, manual therapy, body mechanics training, bracing and education.
Women’s Health Pelvic Pain
Pain in the pelvic region can limit many activities associated with normal daily function, including sexual intercourse. A physical or occupational therapist with specialized training will first assess the cause of pain, and, based on your symptoms and long-term goals, will recommend a treatment approach. This treatment may include techniques to decrease discomfort, strengthen pelvic muscles, provide flexibility training to pelvic floor and hip muscles and address concerns related to issues of intimacy. Therapeutic techniques may include manual therapy, stretching, strengthening, biofeedback and education about lifestyle changes.
Breast Cancer Rehabilitation
Our interdisciplinary team creates a supportive environment in which patients recovering from breast cancer improve their ability to function and their quality of life. Rehabilitation strategies are tailored for each stage of treatment and recovery. Treatment may involve stretching, strengthening, manual therapy, edema and pain management techniques, as well as cardiovascular conditioning and education on pacing to address decreased endurance that may result from cancer treatments.
Levels of Care for Pelvic Health
Our highly trained clinical staff will use the most advanced rehabilitation treatments and evidenced-based research to make a difference in your life and help pave the road to wellness.
