What is interdisciplinary treatment?
Research shows that interdisciplinary treatment provides the best long-term outcomes for function, increased satisfaction with life, and successful pain management. This gold standard approach is delivered by a coordinated team of specialists in one facility addressing the numerous issues that result from years of pain.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists teach you to exercise comfortably rather than push through the pain. Based on your individual needs, treatments can include:
- Stretching, strengthening, and core exercises
- Aerobic conditioning
- Strategies to increase body awareness and improve posture and movement patterns
- Graded exercise to increase your ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift
- Education in pain control tools and self-massage
Occupational Therapy
Our occupational therapists help you find safe and comfortable ways to do all the activities that are important to you. Treatment can include:
- Ergonomics and body mechanics training
- Pacing and energy conservation for fatigue management
- Bed positioning and strategies to enhance sleep
- Biofeedback for relaxation and movement retraining
- Work simulation and/or community reentry
- Adaptive Yoga and Tai Chi
Behavioral Health
Our social workers understand that your pain has physical causes and can be impacted by your mood, thoughts, roles, and relationships. Treatment is specifically geared to give you tools to cope and manage the pain. These may include:

- Family Education
- Mind/Body Techniques
The Benefits of Telehealth
We realize that it can be difficult to get to Medford, therefore participants can receive telehealth/virtual* treatments solely or in combination with in-person appointments. Receiving therapy from the comfort of your home, is not only convenient, but it allows you to practice techniques in your real-life environment and get immediate feedback from your clinician. If recommended by your treatment team, our virtual classes will also allow you meet and learn from other people living in chronic pain. We understand that your situation is unique, but you are not alone.
