Visitor Information for Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center Brighton

Updated July 25, 2022

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health have expanded visitation in skilled nursing facilities to allow in-room visits for residents.

All visitors must adhere to the core principles of infection prevention and control, which include:

Core Principles of COVID-19 Infection Prevention

  • Visitors will be screened for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Visitors who have a positive viral test for COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19, or currently meet the criteria for quarantine (exposed to someone with COVID-19), should not enter the facility.
  • Frequent hand hygiene (use of alcohol-based hand rub is preferred).
  • Face covering or mask (covering mouth and nose) and physical distancing at least six feet between people, in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

While not recommended, residents who are in isolation or quarantine can still receive visitors. In these cases, visits should occur in the resident’s room and the resident must wear a well-fitting face mask (if tolerated).

Before visiting residents who are in isolation or quarantine, visitors should be made aware of the potential risk of visiting and precautions necessary in order to visit the resident.

It is strongly advised that visitors to COVID-19 positive or quarantined residents should be fully vaccinated and maintain physical distance. Visitors must wear a facility-issued mask and the facility should monitor visitor compliance with hand hygiene.

Visitors should adhere to the core principles of infection prevention. Visitors who are unable to adhere to the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention should not be permitted to visit or should be asked to leave.

Protocol

Each resident in a semi-private room may have two in-room visitors at a time.

Residents who are up-to-date with the COVID-19 vaccination and visitors that are up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccination can be unmasked and may eat together in a residents room as long as a resident does not have a roommate.

Residents who choose to eat their meal(s) in the day room may be accompanied by a visitor, however the visitors must remain masked when in the day room and may not eat while in the day room.

Visitors should minimize their time in common spaces and limit their movement throughout the unit and building.

Large gatherings and groups cannot be accommodated.

Outdoor Visitation

Visitors and residents may remove their masks and may eat together while outside.

Visitor restrictions are subject to change based on guidelines set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Thank you for your compliance. Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Brighton staff are working to ensure the safety of patients through many methods. Get more information on Spaulding’s COVID-19 response and updates.
