Life Income Gifts

Make a charitable gift that “gives back” in more ways than one — supplementing your own income in your lifetime while helping Spaulding’s patients find their strength.

There are a variety of ways to support Spaulding that can generate an attractive, reliable income stream for you and your family. Moreover, these special gift vehicles enable you to give more to Spaulding than you otherwise thought possible.

How to Contribute

Common Life Income Options

  • Charitable gift annuity: In exchange for your charitable gift of $10,000 or more to Spaulding, you receive fixed and guaranteed payments for life, based on the age of those receiving the income. Payments can begin immediately, or can be deferred one or more years for a higher payout rate.
  • Charitable remainder trust: This flexible option pays income to you or your other beneficiaries, either for life or a term of up to 20 years. Payments from a charitable remainder trust could grow over time, depending on a number of factors.

With both of these gift vehicles, donors typically enjoy an income tax charitable deduction equal to a portion of the gift amount, and avoid any up-front capital gains taxes.

Gift annuity rates increased as of January 1, 2024. If you are considering a gift annuity, or already have an annuity and are interested in another, we can now offer you an even more generous annuity payment.

The combination of higher annuity rates and substantial deductions make gift annuities even more attractive.

Benefit Spaulding Now and Your Heirs Later

  • Charitable lead trust: Establishing a lead trust will pay income to Spaulding now with your heirs receiving the remainder in the future. This type of gift can offer significant gift or estate tax savings while having an immediate impact on Spaulding’s patients and families.

Gifts to Spaulding advance care and research to change lives

After successfully recovering from a stroke, Rick Ryan began giving back to Spaulding as a volunteer peer visitor in the stroke unit. Rick then established a significant charitable remainder trust to benefit Spaulding—which will pay him an income annuity for the rest of his life. Eventually, the proceeds will support stroke research at Spaulding, benefiting future patients and leaving a generous lasting legacy in his name.
