Professional Development Programs

Spaulding provides a number of education, training and leadership opportunities for nurses throughout their career development. We strive to help our nurses achieve excellence in their work, and support Spaulding nurses’ personal goals for learning and career advancement.

Specialty Certification

Specialty Certification is an important way for clinicians to validate their knowledge, experience and clinical judgement in a particular area of practice. It allows nurses to pursue specific areas of interest and increase skills for the advanced care of our patients. Spaulding is pleased to partner with the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation to provide financial support for our nurses seeking specialty certification. Nurses who receive specialty certification may be reimbursed for the cost of the exam and receive a monetary award.

Back to School

Spaulding provides several tuition support and degree partnership programs for nurses to continue their education while working on a full-time or part-time basis. Mass General Brigham offers discounted programs for employees at the MGH Institute for Health Professions, Southern New Hampshire University, Chamberlain College, Excelsior College and Laboure College.

Clinical Ladder

The Clinical Ladder Program recognizes nurses’ progression from novice to expert and increases the overall expertise and efficiency of the nursing staff. The program promotes recruitment and retention of qualified staff and results in a higher level of care and service to our patients and their families.
