BOSTON, MA - Spaulding Rehabilitation has again been recognized as one the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country, achieving a rank of #2 in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” issue, matching its highest rank ever. Spaulding continues to be the only rehabilitation hospital in New England ranked each year since 1995.

“These results serve as a recognition of our incredible team at Spaulding who are dedicated to fostering innovation, commitment to education and creating excellent patient outcomes. We will also use this momentum to continue to push forward our work to incorporate the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and access in all we do. It is also an honor to be joined with others in the Mass General Brigham system to achieve these hard-earned results that reflect our goals to be a leading place of healing and science in the world,” Dr. Ross Zafonte, president, Spaulding Rehabilitation and the chair of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Spaulding continues to expand its efforts on an international level as well as building discovery centers to advance advocacy and research. The Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Spaulding has been the one of the top overall rehabilitation medicine residency programs in the Doximity Residency Navigator. Spaulding was also recently honored as a “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” with a top score on the Disability Employment Index for the seventh year in a row.

Spaulding is proud to be part of other honors for Mass General Brigham, with five hospitals nationally recognized in U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals”.

Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital once again earned spots on the Honor Roll among the top hospitals in the country. Brigham and Women’s Hospital is ranked #1 in the nation for obstetrics and gynecology.

In addition to Spaulding, two other Mass General Brigham specialty hospitals – McLean Hospital, and Mass Eye and Ear – were recognized for national excellence. McLean Hospital was ranked #1 in the nation for psychiatry. Mass Eye and Ear is ranked #4 for ophthalmology and #7 for otolaryngology (ear, nose, throat).

Earlier this year, Mass General Brigham launched For Every Patient, a systemwide unified quality strategy that seeks to achieve the best possible outcomes for every patient. For Every Patient is a multi-year, evidence-based, data driven effort that will provide high-quality care that is effective, safe, personalized, and rooted in equity at every touchpoint, for every patient.
