(BOSTON, MA) -Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital has again been recognized as one the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country, achieving a rank of #3 in the 2021 US News & World Report “America’s Best Hospitals” issue.  Spaulding has steadily ascended from a #14 position back in the year 2000 achieving its fourth straight top three ranking. Spaulding continues to be the only rehabilitation hospital in New England ranked each year since 1995.

“It is always tremendously rewarding to be acknowledged by our peers even as the pandemic continues to challenge every facet of healthcare. Our goal is to continue to foster a dynamic and vibrant environment of healing, discovery, inclusion and excellence in all we do. Recognitions like this serve to reinforce those efforts and push us to keep moving forward,” Dr. Ross Zafonte, Interim President, Spaulding Rehabilitation and the Chair of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Spaulding continues to expand its efforts on an international level as well as a leader in advocacy and research. The Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Spaulding has been the top overall rehabilitation medicine residency program in the Doximity Residency Navigator. Spaulding was also recently honored by Disability:IN as “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” with a top score on the Disability Employment Index for the third year in a row.

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), the founding members of Mass General Brigham, earned high marks in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report – with MGH earning the number five (5) spot on the Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals and Brigham and Women’s earning the number fourteen (14) spot.

In addition to Spaulding, two other Mass General Brigham hospitals – McLean Hospital, and Mass. Eye and Ear – were also recognized for national excellence. McLean Hospital was ranked number two (2) in the nation for psychiatry. Mass. Eye and Ear ranked second (2) for ear, nose and throat care and ranked fourth (4) for ophthalmology. The rankings, now available online, will be published in the magazine’s August issue as part of its 2021-2022 Best Hospitals guide.

“More than ever, we see the strongest parts of our health care system working together, collaborating, and combining resources in order to improve the patient experience and outcomes” said Anne Klibanski, MD, President and CEO, Mass General Brigham. “These rankings are a fitting tribute to the dedication and compassion of individuals that work in our institutions, and they truly reflect Mass General Brigham’s dedication to our patients and our ongoing commitment to equitable, innovative, patient-centered care for those in our communities and around the globe.”
