Boston, MA – Each year the Boston Business Journal recognizes area leaders in healthcare from various backgrounds and specialties as "Champions in Healthcare". This year, Spaulding Rehabilitation and Partners HealthCare at Home President David Storto, was selected to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was designed to honor the region's most respected throughout the health care field by offering a unique perspective on extraordinary health care professionals, researchers, administrators and clinicians.

"David’s strategic vision, life-long commitment to excellence and passionate advocacy for those recovering from injury or newly disabled has made him an important voice in our industry that has positively impacted the lives of thousands of patients and families. We are extremely proud of this well deserved recognition," said Scott Schoen, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Partners Continuing Care (PCC), which consists of Partners HealthCare at Home and Spaulding Rehabilitation.

The care models created by the organizations led by Storto have been recognized as the blueprint to serve as a reference for the industry. A national study of post-acute systems concluded that "of all the systems in the study, PCC appears to be the most advanced, primarily because it has organized all its post-acute assets under one management and governance system."

Under Storto’s leadership, Spaulding Rehabilitation and Partners HealthCare at Home is comprised of 4,900 clinicians and staff at 6 inpatient and 23 outpatient facilities as well as providing home health services for all of Eastern Massachusetts. With almost 35,000 patient admissions and over 800,000 outpatient and home care visits in the past year, PCC is one of the largest post-acute providers in the region. A center of education and research nationally, Spaulding is the official teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Spaulding Rehabilitation physicians are conducting more than 100 active research studies.

Mr. Storto will join with his fellow honorees at the Champions of Healthcare Ceremony and Breakfast on August 23rd at the Seaport Hotel in Boston.
