A new tax-saving opportunity is available for Spaulding donors in 2006 and 2007. A recently-passed legislation called the Pension Protection Act of 2006 ("PPA 2006") allows Spaulding donors 70½ or older to make gifts in 2006 and 2007 using funds from their individual retirement accounts (IRAs and Roth IRAs) without incurring income tax on the withdrawn funds.

2006 Qualification requirements

You must be 70½ or older.
Funds must be transferred directly from your IRA or Roth IRA to Spaulding.
Donation must be made on or before December 31, 2007.
Contributions up to $100,000 per year can be made in 2006 and 2007.
