Our special on-site services for rehabilitation include:
Brace Clinic — provides a multidisciplinary assessment of bracing needs, and fits patients for prefabricated and custom-made braces, orthopedic shoes, and other orthopedic devices.
Assistive Technology Center - helps individuals find technology solutions for mobility, communication, or cognitive-memory issues.
Wheelchair Clinic — fits patients for wheelchairs or special seating, and provides training.
Functional Living Apartment — allows patients undergoing stroke rehabilitation to practice the skills they need for greater independence in activities of daily living. In some cases, an overnight stay in the functional living apartment with a spouse or other caregiver is a helpful step in preparing for the return home.
Discharge and Outpatient Planning — an important process that involves the person who has had a stroke, their family, involved friends and the entire rehabilitation team. After stroke rehabilitation, follow up care is often required. Spaulding staff members identify resources available to insure that rehabilitation progress continues after discharge. Stroke support groups are available at the hospital.
