As a leader in rehabilitation, Spaulding can help individuals with different levels of spinal dysfunctions and problems.
The
Spaulding Spine Care Program incorporates rehabilitation concepts from the most recent spine research. Our physical therapists have extensive experience and advanced education in the management of orthopedic conditions and in spine rehabilitation. Team members are specially trained in identifying movement abnormalities of your spinal joints, as well as length / strength imbalances of your muscular system.
The Spine Care rehabilitation team will help restore you to full pain free function utilizing a combination of the following techniques:
| • | Manual ("hands-on") therapy to reduce pain and improve normal movement of joints of the spine |
| • | Core strengthening exercises based on the current biomechanical and anatomical research |
| • | Postural and balance training |
| • | Soft tissue and muscle-lengthening techniques to correct muscle imbalance |
| • | Cardiovascular exercises. |
We will create an individualized exercise program for you to help you achieve your long-term maintenance goals, and to prevent recurrences of problems. Your physical therapist will help you become adept at performing your prescribed strengthening and exercise program at home or at your preferred health club or gym. There are also Spine Care and Conditioning group exercise programs at many of our centers.
Depending upon the results of your physical evaluation, your Spaulding therapist may also offer you an orthotic evaluation and ergonomic evaluation of workstation setups. Spaulding physicians are also available for medical consultation.
