Bridges to the Community
This series of free seminars is designed for health care professionals, individuals with disabilities and their families, as well as the general public through the Patient Family Resource Center. After an injury or illness, an individual may be left with an impairment or disability. Returning to the community - home, school, or work - may create overwhelming challenges for the individual and his or her family. These challenges can often be met and overcome when everyone is better prepared with knowledge of available resources, assistive technology, and disability rights. Learning and perfecting advocacy skills are a major part of the recovery and healing process.
