The following is a summary of current benefits for Spaulding employees.
Medical Coverage
Employees who work 20 or more hours per week are eligible to receive benefits. As a benefits eligible employee, you have a selection of four different medical plans. Depending upon your needs you can choose either individual or family coverage (for eligible dependents), to protect yourself and your family in the event of illness or injury.
Pharmacy Coverage
When you enroll in a medical plan, you will receive prescription drug coverage through Merck Medco. A prescription drug benefit managed by Medco offers you low co-payments and the convenience of a mail service program.
Dental Coverage
You have the option of enrolling in a dental plan that offers you basic dental coverage through Delta Dental.
Vision Coverage
Davis Vision provides coverage for a basic vision service network of participating optometrists.
Paid Time Off
Spaulding employees accrue a bank of earned time (used for illness, vacation, or personal days) based on years of service and hours worked. Your earned time accrues over the course of a year. New employees earn 25 days annually (pro rated for part-time employees).
Disability
A separate accrual of Extended Sick Leave (ESL) is used for short-term illnesses. ESL accrues annually at the rate of .77 hours per week (pro-rated for part time employees). Spaulding also offers a Long Term Disability plan that is based on your weekly salary.
Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
SRH provides Life Insurance coverage equal to one year of your salary. You may choose to purchase additional Life Insurance and ADD insurance to increase your level of coverage for yourself or for qualifying dependents.
Flexible Spending Accounts
You may establish a reimbursement account for Heath Dependent Care expenses. The Health Care account yearly maximum is $3,000.00 pretax and the Dependant Care yearly maximum is $5,000.00 per family pretax.
Retirement Plan
Spaulding helps you provide for your financial security during retirement, by paying the full cost of the Cash Balance Retirement Plan. You are automatically covered under the plan once you complete one year of service and attain age 21. Spaulding makes all contributions based on age and years of service. Employees are vested after five years.
Tax-Sheltered Annuities
SRH also offers Tax Sheltered Annuities (403(b)) that permit you to voluntarily save for retirement on a pretax basis with the following vendors: Fidelity, TIAA-CREF, and Vanguard.
Tuition Reimbursement
Spaulding offers up to $1,200 in tuition assistance per fiscal year, dependent on the numbers of standard hours worked per week.
Create a Nurse Program — All benefits eligible employees are welcome to participate in the Create A Nurse Program at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. The Create A Nurse Program is designed to both promote nursing as a career choice and to advance the education of current professionals by providing tuition assistance. Any employee attending or who wishes to attend nursing school (RN, BSN) and advanced nursing programs (e.g. existing BS and BSN to MSN, MSN to PhD degrees) is eligible. Employees may receive an annual maximum of up to $3,500 (or $5,000 for the MGH-IHP Masters Program) prorated for part-time employees.
Fitness Program
Spaulding employees can join The Clubs at Charles River Park for a subsidized monthly fee that is deducted from your paycheck. Facilities and services include an outdoor swimming pool and café, as well as an indoor lap pool. There is no initiation fee.
Spaulding PERKS Program
Through the Spaulidng PERKS Program, employees have access to a number of unique perks, including a pet health insurance plan, and discounted prices for movie and theatre tickets, local dining, museum admissions, and cellular phone service.
