Do you accept International Medical Graduates (IMGs)?
Yes, we do accept IMGs, and have graduated several from our program. All our IMGs had truly exceptional academic credentials. All of our IMGs are certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
What type of visa will I need for your program?
You will need either a J-1 visa, sponsored by the ECFMG, or an H-1 visa, sponsored by The Partners Office for International Students and Scholars.
How do I apply for your program?
You must apply via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We do not accept any other application metho - no paper applications.
Is there a cutoff score on the USMLE?
Yes, there is a cutoff score. You must have scored in at least the 80th percentile on your USMLE exam for your application to be reviewed.
Do you offer positions outside the Match?
No. All six of our positions are offered through the Match. No positions are offered outside the Match to anyone, under any circumstances.
What openings are there in your program?
We are accepting applications via ERAS for those beginning their PGY-2 year in 2006. There are no vacancies at any other level of the program.
Do you offer a transitional year?
We do not offer a transitional year. Our program is a three-year specialty residency.
What is the deadline for applications?
The deadline for application submission is October 31st
Do I need to have clinical experience in the U.S.?
Yes. You must ensure that you have completed the requirements of a U.S. transitional year before you begin our program.
Is there a limit on number of application attempts?
There is no limit on the number of application attempts. However, we urge you not to reapply unless you have made substantial changes and additions to your application in order to improve it. Sending the same application every year will not increase your chances of an interview.
What can I do to increase my chances of admission?
We are looking for applicants who are genuinely interested in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation and who have the skills to become leaders in the field themselves. Genuine interest is assessed by how committed you have been to the field throughout your medical career. Have you taken electives in PM&R? Have you performed relevant research?
