A Teaching Hospital
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Network is home to the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). The PM&R Residency Program, which enrolls 18 residents in postgraduate years two through four, is a major catalyst for Spaulding's emergence over the last decade as one of the top ten rehabilitation hospitals in the U.S.

In addition to PM&R, the hospital also educates medical students and other rehabilitation professionals in rehabilitation medicine, and trains post residency fellows in disciplines such as stroke, pain management, neurology, and spinal cord injury.

More than 400 health care students from nearby institutions participate annually in internship programs in nursing, speech-language pathology, physical and occupational therapy, and related disciplines. We also offer continuing education programs, workshops, and symposia for healthcare professionals and a community lecture series.

A Research Center
Led by PM&R faculty, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Network is a leading center for groundbreaking research contributing to the advancement of rehabilitation science and learning.

Spaulding research studies include clinical studies, the evaluation of new rehabilitation medications, and basic research into the nature of disease and disability. These endeavors enhance Spaulding's treatment programs, with clinical research results often quickly finding their way to the bedside, and afford unique educational opportunities for research fellowships.
