GYROTONIC Exercise Training
Spaulding Outpatient Center Brighton provides GYROTONIC® Exercise Training. Our newly expanded clinic at 20 Guest Street is home of the GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower, Jump and Stretch Board and Leg Extension Unit. These pieces of equipment are part of the GYROTONIC® Expansion System, which is now found in rehabilitation centers, private physical therapy clinics, dance studios and fitness centers all over the world. Originating in the world of dance, this movement method improves strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination and gracefulness of movements for activities of daily living, skilled movements and competitive sports.
Approach to Care
The GYROTONIC® Expansion System retrains the body-mind connection (neuromuscular control), and coordinated movement of the spine/trunk, pelvis and shoulder. A sophisticated system of pulleys, weights and choreography assists the individual to re-learn movement patterns through the mindful application of rhythmic, sequenced exercises. Emphasis of training is on achieving spinal mobility as well as stability leading to improved posture, spinal alignment and core control.
Within a contemporary therapeutic exercise framework, and based on individual assessment, components of the GYROTONIC® exercise method may be incorporated into a patient's rehabilitation program.
Utilizing spiral motion to restore full range of combined motions, GYROTONIC training allows the body to gently regain a range and freedom of movement often long since lost to the demands of our modern sedentary lifestyle.
For the more competitive or merely ‘dedicated’ individual:
Our experienced clinical specialists, certified in several contemporary movement methods, inclusive of Pilates and GYROTONIC™ & The Performance Matrix will design a Gyrotonic ™ conditioning program based on your individual needs and goals.
