Teaching Programs at Spaulding Rehabilitation Network
Spaulding sponsors two lecture series for healthcare professionals and interested members of the community: the Distinguished Lecture Series and Bridges to the Community. Both series are free and open to the public.
Distinguished Lecture Series
Part of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital's program in Continuing Medical Education, this series of lectures provides a forum for experts who have made significant contributions to scholarship in medicine, education and health care planning.
All lectures are held at 12 noon on Fridays in Conference Rooms 8A and 8B at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Main Campus at 125 Nashua Street in Boston.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) Category One: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital designates the Distinguished Lecturer Series for one credit hour each of Category One of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Spaulding is accredited by the Massachusetts Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
Bridges to the Community
This series of free seminars is designed for health care professionals, individuals with disabilities and their families, as well as the general public through the Patient Family Resource Center.
After an injury or illness, an individual may be left with an impairment or disability. Returning to the community – home, school, or work – may create overwhelming challenges for the individual and his or her family.
These challenges can often be met and overcome when everyone is better prepared with knowledge of available resources, assistive technology, and disability rights. Learning and perfecting advocacy skills are a major part of the recovery and healing process.
