About Us

Quality and Outcomes at Spaulding Cape Cod

Patient Experience:  Satisfaction with your Spaulding experience is a priority for us. The overall satisfaction of our patients and their willingness to recommend Spaulding to friends or relatives are important measures of the quality of our programs and services.

Each Spaulding facility and outpatient site seeks patient feedback, to continually improve our service to you.

At Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod, we are proud to have Patient Experience scores that are ranked in the top quartile nationally.  Our patients rate us with excellent scores for both overall satisfaction and likelihood to recommend Spaulding to family and friends.

Patient Outcomes: Outcomes are measured in several ways, including the Functional Independence Measure (FIM™) instrument, which allows clinicians to follow changes in your functional status -- such as bathing, dressing, feeding, walking and mobility -- from the start of rehabilitative care through discharge and follow-up.  We also look at what outpatients tell us about their progress over time.

We’re proud that our patients consistently achieve outcomes that meet or exceed national benchmarks.

Patient Progress:  In the longer term, it’s important that patients find their strength, regain function and resume their lives.  We help you with a safe discharge to home or the community, and avoid re-hospitalization.

Infection Prevention

We also offer and encourage all staff to obtain a Flu Vaccine. The most current data from CMS 2015–2016 shows that the Inpatient Rehab Facility national average for All Healthcare Personnel Vaccination was 84.3%.  At SCC, 94% of healthcare personnel were immunized against flu in 2015-2016.
In addition, the hospital adopted a Mask Policy to ensure safety of both patients and staff.   For those personnel who were not vaccinated for medical or other reasons, a properly fitted surgical mask was worn throughout the Flu season.

Helping you to stay at Home

Another indicator of quality care is whether patients require readmission to an acute care hospital within 30 days of discharge from SCC. The most recent data available from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2013-2014 shows that Spaulding Cape Cod is doing better than the national average with readmissions. The U.S. National rate was 13.06% compared to SCC at 12.20%.
